Forthcoming Events and Activities
Opportunity for service - The Ashford Hospital League of Friends
If you have had any contact with Ashford Hospital you will be familiar
with the League of Friends who are responsible for the running of
the Atrium Coffee Bar, the West Wing Tea Bar and the twice
daily Ward Trolley, in addition to the Annual Summer Fete.
All this is run by volunteers.
If you could spare a couple of hours per week on a regular basis we would love
you to join us and help in this vital service which is so much appreciated
by Staff, Patients and Visitors.
For further information please contact the League Secretary on 01932 783550
or the Volunteers Co-ordinator at the Hospital on 01784 884227.

Small Hall and Kitchenette have been redecorated
Our Small Hall has been completely redecorated and now looks new and bright.
Our thanks to Steve Smith and the happy group of volunteers
who devoted a Saturday morning to the task. It looks great.

Opportunity for service - Ashford Helping Hands CAN YOU OFFER TIME TO HELP?
Ashford Helping Hands has been active in this community since October 1995,
helping out where we can.
Requests for help from anyone living in Ashford, are made via an answer-phone
message on 01784 423222, which links the caller with a volunteer on duty for
the day. The duty officer then tries to find a volunteer from our register, who is able to help with
the task requested. We have made a real difference to people in Ashford, especially to the elderly living at home.
We need more volunteers! Any amount of time you think you could offer will make a real
difference, even if you’re only available at weekends. And you don’t have to drive, although that
would help. At the moment, we are short of people to man the phone at home, perhaps once a
month, to take the incoming calls and find a volunteer. We also need people who have time to
make themselves available occasionally to take someone shopping, or visit, or provide a lift to
the hospital or the hairdresser, or help out at home: fitting a light bulb, mending a door catch,
mowing the lawn etc.
Please consider using some of your time as a volunteer for Ashford Helping Hands. You can
ring the help line – 01784 423222 between 10am and 12noon, Monday to Friday, and the duty
officer for the day will give you the phone number of a committee member, or speak to Harry
Knight of St Hilda’s Church.

* * * A 'BIG THANK YOU' from the Churchwardens * * *
Many thanks to all those who turned out to help with the annual spring clean. Our Church looks clean and cared for and there is a good smell of polish rather than dust! We are all ready to welcome the extra visitors that come to our services during the Easter celebrations. We expect the smell of polish to be replaced by the sweet scent of spring flowers and Easter lilies. THANKYOU.
